What do I need to buy to go back to stock?

I bought an 01 Ext Cab 4x4 with a 3 inch lift on it. Since putting about 1500 miles on it the ubolts on the rear end have sheared off, and there is no suspension travel on the front end as the torsion bars were cranked as tight as possible to lift the truck and fit the tires.

What do I need to purchase to return the truck to stock? Obviously I'll need new ubolts for the rear, but are there bushings or plates involved to go back to stock...right now there's a bigger block in place. Is the front end just a matter of resetting the torsion bars back to stock position or are there bushings or plates there that need to be replaced?

I suspension stupid so any help would be great!

Its a 3" body lift right? Did you want to remove that?

Yep. I'm actually weighing my option between removing it and returning to stock (which is going to mean I have to buy new tires too), or doing the lift on the front end properly with suspension components rather than putting all the stress on the torsion bars. I think with the cost of tires it's going to be about the same either way but I'm trying to figure that out...

I don't know the specifics, but you will need to replace the 3" lift with factory bushings to get it back down. I've only looked at the BII, but there weren't any plates for it, just 8(?) bushings between the body and frame. Like I said, I don't know for sure, but I didn't think there was any suspension work to a body lift?

See if there are stock or aftermarket shocks in the front end. when lifting the front you neeeeed longer shocks or shock spacers. i lifted without spacing out the shocks and it rode like crap! i spaced out the shocks and my ride is comparable to stock!! These trucks dont have an incredible ride to start with.... so dont be looking to make a cadillac out of it.

With a set of home brew shock spacers... you would probably be happy at the height you are at now.

A suspension lift will run somewhere in the range of $1500 new, so think about that if you want to keep it at its current height.

You said the torsion bars are turned up as far as they will go......

See what is under there for shocks. make yourself a set of shock spacers if you are handy. or get a pair of longer shocks.

this will be a cheap alternative to going with a full lift or going back to stock. i almost guarantee your ride will get 100% better
