Well, oil started leaking again. DAMN!

How's it going Mutant? Hope all is well. It's not here. I was just jiving you about getting mad by the way...haha

I found out where my leaks coming from, the actual oil pump body has a hairline crack and the oil's coming through it. I need another one.

I did however find a "tiny" dribble of oil that was coming from the camshaft seal (the front one), so I took care of that while I had the timing belt off. I'm going to buy a new tensioner for the timing belt tomorrow because I have a strange noise coming from there or the actual cam pulley somewhere. Bearing?

I'm going to have to let it leak from the oil pump until I can find a decent used one or get enough to buy a new one as they're not cheap for this style. At least it's not too bad and I know where it is.

I saw your other post after I posted last night. You need to find a pump housing, driving it like that could result in a catastophic failure.
I would have left the cam seal alone. A perfect cam seal will have that little dribble, that is how you know that oil is getting there. I have seen new seals leak frequently, I don't ever change a seal unless it has clearly failed.

I don't really have a choice for now, and it's not like it's leaking all over town. Just a little peasized amount on the ground and not all the time. It could still cause failure?

I did'nt know that a cam seal was supposed to leak like that or I would have left it...haha

I have the same (I think) leaky problem. I beleive the oil pump is leaking, but after replacing the front main seal. There seems to be little leak. Is it possible that the resdue is still making its way down?

If not, I have the oil pump seals on hand.

Gotta love the old 2.3L. It may leak a little oil. It may be slow. But its still one hell of an engine to last.

Thanks, but the seals are'nt going to help with where the oil pump is leaking at. If you're looking at the oil pump from the front of the engine, it's cracked right along the top of the housing by the top right bolt (there's 4 bolts).

I had the pump out and replaced the o-rings (one time) and the gasket about 3 times before I actually figured out where the leak was coming from.
