I plan on making my 92 with a 351w swap a strict drag truck. My qeustion is can i make supports that run from the frame to the underside of the bed rails and then cut out the floor of the bedand small braces to keep it sturdy. Could this work? Or just leave it alone?

Wouldn't you want to leave the weight in the back for traction? Trucks are light enough in the back as is

Exactly, unless your planning on running some super wide tires you going to need some weight, even with super wide tires you'll need weight. I would leave it alone and cap the bed top to reduce drag and fit as wide a tire you can, if that means bye bye fender wells so be it. Just my .02 cents

You guys are right i totaly did not think about that i feel dumb now. Shoud i try to remove some weight or just leave it alone. I plan on cutting the frame behind the cab and weld in a frame and four link kit from summit and run a wicked wide tire or as wide as i can with a non shortened rear for now

Not for drag-racing, but the same principle. Remove as much as you can and if you find you need weight, add it where it does the most good.... At the back.

good luck,

Richard

Get a one piece fiberglass hood/fender thing that's should cut some weight or am I wrong.

Don't really drag race I mud crawl

I was surprised at how little the stock fenders and hood weigh once I removed all the bracing I could. Same with the doors and interior stuff.

I planned on doing a flip front clip, so i was gonna strip whats not needed on the front fenders radiator support and build a rad suport that wont tilt and cut everything from the underside of the hood to just have the outer skin and and bolt it together and maybe fill the gaps so it looks like a one piece.

And alwaysfloored is right the front fenders are pretty light. Plus a glass one piece front clip is about 1500-1700 bucks which i think is WAY to expensive for a weekend warrior lol.

Do you guys have any advice on the flip front? Ive searced for days and have got some idears but more heads are better than one lol
