I saw a video on youtube that Ford is bringing the Ranchero nameplate back and still be built as the car/truck hybrid and was wondering if this is true or is it just a hoax?

Believe nothing until there's an official announcement from a manufacturer. Could very well be clickbait.

"New" vehicle clickbait is pretty lucrative. Especially if you can get some BS digital render drawn up..

I don't think they have a car/truck hybrid now. They barely even ahve a car any more. Everything is going the crossover route which I suppose is a car/suv hybrid. IMO the Maverick was is more of a crossover/truck hybrid.

They should have used the Ranchero name from the start instead of the Maverick brand. The Ranchero was always a car/truck hybrid, so it would a natural fit. The Maverick was originally a compact car meant to compete with japenese imports, a "subcompact import fighter" to borrow words from Wikipedia.

I think they would have been better off to leave the Mustang brand like it was. Introduce what became the Maverick with the Ranchero name. Use the Maverick name for what became the MachE. Let the Maverick spearhead a new kind of fight, the competition on the EV market.

Lets face it, Ford doesn't need another "bed." They've got the fullsize market wrapped up with the F-series. They've got the Ranger that's a little smaller and still plenty cabable. They've got the Maverick that vills the space bewteen a UTV and the Ranger. I personally don't see a hole for another bed in the lineup.

If they really wanted to do the Ranchero name right, they would have imported and rebadged the Falcon Ute years ago. Would have been perfect. The Ranchero was originally a Falcon with a bed so going back to the roots. Would have given us the performance oriented car/truck hybrid we wanted rather than the crossover/truck hybrid that we eventually got.

Ranchero....maybe 2 door maverick long bed.

The platforms are all hybrid intended.
