I need to do a tune up on my 86 B2 2.9 4x4 and I was going to start with plugs and wires because i just bought it and not sure the last tune up it has had. I have been debating between the factory Motorcraft plugs for $5-7 each or going with the Autolites from advance auto for $2-4 each. I have worked at advance but I have never had to change the plugs in any of my vehicles so I'm not sure what works or not. Any tips and opinions is appreciated

I would stick with Motorcraft Plugs, Autolights just don't last as long.
I maintain 3 company Rangers, Autolights plugs only last about 20k to 30k and look worse than Motorcraft at 100k

Stick with the motorcraft. Neither of my BIIs ran worth a darn on anything other than motorcraft plugs.

I got a really good deal from RockAuto on Bosch Platinum plugs (like 75 cents each!) that I put in my old 2.9. Of course it made no difference at all how it ran but I had no problems. I have almost always run Autolite plugs in everything else I have with no ill effects. A plug is a plug to me.

MOTORCRAFT, comparing them to autolites nowadays is like comparing apples to oranges.Usually a cheaper part is simply that, a cheaper part. notice the word "usually"
