Wally World no longer carries 5W-30? 5W-20 declared the "new norm"??

The high mileage stuff just has a little added seal sweller so it should leak a little less, so its a good idea for most any vehicle over 75k miles imho.

Modern oils have seal conditioners in them. No need to spend more or a high mileage oil. Also, I have 205,000 miles on my Ranger. No leaks. No sludge. Just a little yellow residue visible when peeking into the oil filler where I can see the cam and the top of the cylinder head.

Funny thing is the high mileage oil is usually less expensive around here.

I know they all have seal conditioners, the high mileage stuff has a little more.

(RE: Rotella 15W 40 )

I use that in the T6 for my F-250. I need to pick up some to do a change on it. I've found the quarts at TSC before, but for this it doesn't matter. IIRC it uses just under 4 gallons per oil change.
Dude, are you saying you run motor oil in your schmancy auto trans instead of Mercon LV ATF???
:oops::eek:... :unsure:

No, I use Rotella T6 (full synthetic diesel) formula 15w40 in the 7.3L Diesel engine, that is bolted to the front of the definitely not schmancy ZF6 manual transmission in my 2000 F-250. I would call it a crude ZF6 manual transmission, but I think that the NP435 in my 1968 F-100 has it beat in that respect.

Honestly I have no idea what goes into the ZF6. I've never looked at or considered changing the transmission fluid. I would assume that dad did when he changed the clutch back before I got it. I got 3 years ago at almost 200k miles and I don't think it has hit 205k yet.

As for the NP435, it probably hasn't been checked and defeinitely hasn't been changed in 2-3 decades. (I may have topped it off when I pulled it out of the field in 2018.) When it starts making noise, I'll either top it off or finally have a good excuse to rebuild/swap.

D'OH!... nevermind... :blush:
