I've some intermittent lifter clacking that seems to be worse after driving to a warm state, than parking for a while then on starting when the rpms drop, I'll here it clacking. Goes away if I rev it just a bit even. Some major neglect from previous owner. Oil was thick and black when i first got it. Don't even notice it at all in the morning on first starting. Have a friend telling me to put some atf in there to clean it up.

found this info while searching around......"Is it an annoying ticking that will sometimes go away and come back? I had a problem and thought it was the lifters. Turns out the oil pan rings were clogged and the oil pan needed to be dropped and the system cleaned of sludge. Not enough oil was circulating to the top of the motor." .......the oil was super sludgy when i first got this truck and my oil pan has a seepy leak and has a bunch of gunk on on it
