V belt size

I need to look at my notes again... I recall it was really stupid-easy though.

I do remember you cut off the larger 3-terminal rectifier plug that has the two thick cables, tie the two cables together and attach them to the output post on the new alt with a heavy-duty eyelet. The 3rd (white) wire from that same plug I think does hook to the single (stator) terminal on the new alt, and the plug you have pictured above then plugs into the voltage regulator same as before.

You may want to verify this for sure first though as I'm just going by memory on it.

Also, that fuse setup is no bueno. You need to either get a proper fuseholder for that thing, or just not use it at all (IIRC there are already alt fuses in the Power Distribution box). Those fuses were never made to have huge wires hanging off them like that.

That fuse isn't going to be like that when i am done, that is just for mock up, it will be covered up and bolted down somewhere.

Is the wiring for 2g alternators the same across different cars and trucks. All the write ups i find are for fox body mustang and fullsize broncos. I dont get much time to mess with this and i want to have it all done tomorrow.

Well i fired it up today with the new alt on it, i have never seen the headlights of my truck so bright. When i first started it, at high idle it was pushing out 15v with no accessories on. Kicked on the accessories and it dropped to 14.9v. After it warmed up and the idle dropped, it dropped down to 14.9v no accessories and about 14.85v with accessories. But it would continue to drop over the coarse of 20 minutes to the last reading before i turned it off was 14.65v with accessories on. Is this because the battery is bunk or is there something else wrong?

With the engine fully warmed up (say after 15+ minutes of driving) it should read around 14.1-14.3 volts.
15V is very normal when first started on a cool morning though (it helps a cold battery recharge better when you first start it).

Cool thanks.

Well maybe there is something else wrong with my truck, but I have not been too impressed with the 3g alt. I have driven with it fir about 2 weeks and every little thing I touch that uses electricity the lights dim. Like if I use the window or turn on the turn signals it will dim or flicker. I haven't gone out and tested voltages again, I will tomorrow.
