I have a '94 Ranger XLT ext cab with a 2.3L manual 5-speed that I am wanting to convert to a 302 w/AOD. Any suggestions, hints, tips, etc... would be greatly appreciated! :icon_hornsup:

Read and research, all of the info already exists, then ask about specific things you need help with or don't understand.

I have an 84 Bronco ll. I put a 5.0L Mustang motor in it. You must use a 93 or 94 motor because of the length of tha fan shaft. I did not personally do the install, but I know the only real challenge were the motor mounts, but I think Advanced Adaptors can steer you in the right direction. The only other change is that you have to trim the heater box for everything to fit, no big deal. The tranny is a c-6, not a c-4, yes it fits and will handle the torque of the v-8. Transfer case is an np-205. Also installed a ranger 8.8 rear end. Would have used a 9 inch, but the 8.8 bolts right up and is strong enough behind the v-8. Also put a lock-right in this axle. Only thing stock is the front axle dana 28, but if you're not flying and romping, this is no problem. Mine has a factory limited slip, so the only way to get a true front locker is do a front axle swap. 4" trail master suspension kit with rancho 9000 adjustable shocks and 3" body lift. Running 15 x 8 wheels with 33x10.50 bfg mud terrains. should have gone with 35's, but didn't want the unsprung weight. By the way, it's smog legal, got a referee sticker, and have had no issues with registration. I would recommend the 5.0L swap if you have the money to invest. Mine runs great and is very quick on the street. Fun to drive. If you want more info, just let me know.

You meant to say '94 or '95 Mustang motor as they have shorter front accessories. (not quite as short as '96-'01 Explorer 5.0)
But the longer accessories work quite easily, too. see the link to my build in my signature. I used 1992 ('87-93) based accessories.

The last Cougar and Thunderbird 5.0s were also available with short accessories. The short versions all share the same timing cover (different from a Fox body Mustang style) but have different length water pump and accessory brackets.

Motor mounts are a non issue. 85-93 Stang 'Vert mounts (these are the same pieces than came with your 94-95 Stang motor) are what works. No need to buy pricey swap mounts.
