WHY DO I KEEP BUYING DODGES?!?!?
After reading 1993's thread about his "new" 1991 Cherokee I got all warm and fuzzy thinking of the good times "crossing 2' deep bodies of water, 120+mph jaunts, etc). Was browsinf the JP Magazine site and found this article:

http://www.jpmagazine.com/techartic...iter_engine_myth_busting_true_lies/index.html

While it pertains specifically to the AMC 4.0 inline six, a lot of it is relevant and useful knowledge for any engine - sans the thing about programming mopar computers of course. Thought I'd throw it here for anyone to peruse. Some of it may seem common sense (air flow through heads), but a bit of it has been the subject of intense bickering (CAI, performance ignition).
Enjoy!:icon_cheers:

Mostly stuff I know, but always good to have it reaffirmed in a more eloquent way. Good post.

I know. I've seen the battle back and forth over intake kits and I am certain that the factory airbox insnt the issue but the intake hose does cause turbulence in airflow. They once had an article in JP where they tried about a half dozen kits back to back versus the stock setup and came to pretty much the same consensus as this article did about exhaust: The factory balances economy with quiet, leaving a margin of horsepower to be realised with some aftermarket parts but nothing that's night and day, and no one piece will make your truck a hot-rod. I wish walmart still carried this magazine because the writing style was amusing and a lot of info is useful ingerneral when it comes to axle swaps, u joints, suspenion geometry, etc.
