Hi, new to this forum stuff. I have a 97 w/2.3. I took out the oil sender and do not see a coolant sender threaded into the block beneath it, sorta frustrated. Anyway, their is a sensor/sender threaded into the thermostat housing, but also another sensor/sender threaded into the hose that comes off the thermostat housing. So....which is it that controls the gauge? The first one on the hose or the one a few inches away? Both of
the ones in the hose have two wires each. Thanks.

This would be the ECT sensor. The sender for the gauge is in the block on the 2.3. Drivers side, to the rear, one wire. :)shady

Ok, so the one thats threaded into the water neck is the computer sender, what is the other thing (looks identical) threaded into the hose that comes off the water neck? The hose is headed to the heater core for reference, it is a factory item, it's wiring joins the harness. thank you.
