Trying to source replacement T55 seat bolt for 07

Removing the helicoil and going direct to the new threads has occurred to me as well. Certainly seems like the simplest approach. The shop didn't charge much for the helicoil.
I would hope not. That's a complete hack job. Post it to their google reviews if you'd like it corrected for free.

Just my $0.02

Yeah, just remove the helicoil and treat the threaded hole as just a hole to run a bolt thru. Don't mess with trying to re-thread the hole again.

I would drill it to 1/2” and use a 1/2” bolt with washers and lock nut like mentioned above.

My 5 year old nephew can install a helicoil better than that...

If you have your heart set on a replacement Torx bolt, try www.belmetric.com I've found them to have just about every metric fastener under the sun.
