Hello,

Trying to locate a fan clutch for 1983 ranger with the 2.2 diesel. Went to Napa and other stores and they could not help me.

If I can't find a replacement I will have to see if I can have the original refurbish.

I would appreciate any help. Chuck

Image 1166 is a picture of the fan clutch and 1168 is a picture of the plate the fan clutch bolts to. What I need to know is if they are stock from the factory or aftermarket. If anyone that has a 83 or 84 2.2 diesel Ranger would look at this parts and let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, Chuck

The electric fan looks to be what autozone has gone to as that's the only parts that come up for the fan on those engines.

I don't even think there's any place around that rebuilds those fan clutches either.

You'd lose some (power? mpgs? not sure) but if you're really desperate couldn't you just weld the clutch up to make a straight fan shaft? I know at least some vehicles years ago were like that. (Might have just been tractors or something.)

check rockauto yet?
how about Ford?

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

I found "http://www.kirkconnellcorvettes.com" they restore old fan clutches.

Thanks for all of your help. Chuck

Nice find. I can still get a fan clutch from Autozone for my 2.8L, the diesel engines were pretty rare it seems so parts aren't as easy to find from what I can see.

Let us know how the rebuild goes and the cost. I'm sure its cheaper than the electric fan kit.

boneyard lectric fans are ALWAYS on sale! I got a 2-fer $50........bolted one on the radiator---put the other one on the "spare parts shelf"....gonna swap em out at 300,000 miles whether it needs it or not ;missingteeth;

Good point, just not really wanting to trust the electric fans, seen too many problems in the past with them, the mechanical fan just seems to be more reliable, or always has been for me.

when doing an e-fan swap.. use a OEM fan and parts to do it... cheap aftermarket Chinese stuff will let you down.

I sent the fan clutch to www.kirkconnellcorvettes.com they had it back to me within a week. They completely rebuilt and refinish the fan clutch to like new condition. The price was $250.00 a little costly but I wanted to keep the truck factory stock.

Thanks for all the help. Chuck
