alrite im havin all the symptons that the trans go kit supposedly fixes im wondering if it is any good and worth putting in ive also heard that it can be the valve body gasket is gone so i was gona put both into the truck. transmission is auto

The valve body modds are easy, but I cant rember if you need to change the drum springs for the R series trans.

your trans should be the 4R55E.

do you think that replacing the vb gasket and doin the shift kit it might improve my transmission it does slip a bit bet 2nd and 3rd then hard shifts back down to second

An add on trans cooler and shift kit, will improve 2-3 flair up and extend the life of the trans. but as for hard down shifting it may not be the trans, U-joints, motor/trans mounts, and or worn ring & pinion could be the cause.


If you have worn clutches or bands, even with the shift kit and cooler the trans will still slip and or flair up.

You should replace the filter, and ONLY use mercon-V trans fluid, I use 1 bottle of lucas trans fix(helps drop the temp down). some people think its snake oil, but I use it in all 3 of my trucks and it works for me.

ya i was gona do the shift kit and dump a thing of lucas in it see where it goes from there it shifts fine sometimes and others it dont but the vb gasket could be gone on it to
