Hi all. I've read a lot on old forums here that the transmission crossmember on an Explorer can be used on a Ranger. I've got a '92 5-spd Ranger that needs a new transmission crossmember. I plan on taking one off a '92 Explorer and bolting it inside my frame, and cutting off the rusted bushing I've got.
I have two questions though.
1. What model years of the Explorer would fit my '92 Ranger?
2. Is there a difference in the crossmember between a manual and an automatic? and is that difference such that I can't use them interchangeably?
