replace tranny and torch now reinstalling and the torch converter hits on the bellhousing when it spins on a 99 4 x 4 xlt

1) Torque converter. A "torch" is the thing that uses fire to cut.

2) Make sure the converter is fully seated.

3) If that isn't it make sure the bell isn't warped, it happens.

4) If the converter is hitting at the rear, rubbing against the bolts that hold the bell to the trans, that is a good thing. That's how you know the converter is fully seated on the 4R and 5R transmissions. It will correct itself when the converter is drawn into it's final position with the nuts that hold it tight to the flex plate.

Or if you speak BRITISH English a "torch" is what an American English speaker calls a "flash-light".
