Tranny issues, possibly slave cylinder?

i have a 94 mazda b3000 with what i am pretty sure is a M50D-R1 4WD Transmission,

a month ago my brother was driving it home, and he heard a noise, but couldnt describe it, shortly after it wouldnt move at all, and had to be pushed to a gas station,

so heres the situation, i can start the engine, i can put it into first or any other gear, just like normal, but when the clutch pedal is released, nothing happens, i know its not the master cylinder or the hose assembly, i tried that already,

is there some way to check if the slave cylinder is moving without taking the transmission out?

on an important related note, the transmission has been pulled completely apart, my dad replaced the clutch pad about a year or two ago, and while he had the tranny out, he replaced the synchro gears because they gears were grinding in 1st and second, we got it used.

on another side note: something sounded like it was vibrating / grinding, idk what it was tho, it was intermittent, and it sounded like either transmission or engine, im not sure which tho

normally id ask my dad, but he passed away last december

sorry to hear about your dad. It sounds like your pressure plate took a dump, you might as well replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, and clutch slave/t o bearing while youre in there.

I agree sounds like pressure plate. If you want to check out inside the bell housing there is a rubber cover on the lower left side that is about 3x2 and you can peek inside

this may sound kinda odd, but what typically happens to the pressure plate when it fails? does it break apart?
and will i be able to see the pressure plate from that port?
