Obviously like you said the transmission is getting hot. But why? Have you checked the fluid? Have you looked at the transmission cooler to see if it is free of debris? When was the last time you serviced the transmission? If it has been hot a couple times you have a warped bellhousing which is part of the transmission front pump housing and also houses the front seal. It warps when it gets hot.
it did get hot 2or 3 times i already checked rad ok and fluid pumping
will i need to replace tran or just bell housing
Son over heated when he went camping truck was loaded
tran seems ok
I wouldn't skimp on it if you plan on keeping the truck around for a while. I would rebuild it and go from there. If it has gotten hot the bolts in the bellhousing/pump area have lost the torque required to keep it true. If you do happen to rebuild it I would put another trnamission cooler inline with the factory one for extra cooling on the transmission....as heat will kill a transmission faster than anything.
