Me too kinda. I know he had stomach cancer but last i heard it was in remission and he was planning a tourThe news shocked me.
I wasn't aware he was that old, not that 62 is old. RIP.
He was kinda one of the last of the generation of country singers that came up blue collar and "normal". He worked on oil rigs before he started his career. Guys like toby, aaron tippin, joe diffie (rip), kershaw, all came up from very blue collar roots and it seemed like they remembered that humbleness.Awhile back he did some Ford F-Series commercials for us and he spent some time with our online ad group doing some photo shoots for TV spots and banner ads. I never got to meet him but was told by those that did that he was a real honest to goodness country boy as nice as you could imagine.![]()

Not saying the new crop of guys didnt...but they seem to act a bit more "star" then the older guys.
