Tire Groover???

So I have some crappy, blocky AT tires that would really benefit from being attacked by a tire groover. I am looking for some advice on the matter though...
First, what size blades do I want? these are the tires...

They are 31x10.50, and are worn enough that most of the siping is gone. The Siping I am not so worried about, I care more about performance in mud and lose rock/gravels.

Anyone have an opinion on a tread pattern I should do?
I was thinking something like this...

The goal is maximum performance in mud and other lose materials.

i'm not sure what you hope to accomplish with the vertical cuts there in the middle, but the tread pattern on that tire looks fine for an A/T

if you want an M/T, go buy an M/T, cutting into your tire is only going to weaken it.

Grooving and or cutting tires is fine. Split the center lugs and take some material out of the out side lugs. Do a Google image search and im sure you will find some inspiration.

Start out slow at first and you will get the hang of it quickly. I myself have many hours grooving tires. Even brand new TSL's, Boggers, or whatever can benefit from a good groove.

Offroad racers do it all the time, but they usually have new tread. Yours will benefit, and maybe only marginally, so long as you dont go overboard with your cuts. And dont go too deep, either. You dont want to go past your bottom-most tread. Your tires integrity is at stake.

How long do blades last? Will the 1 pack of #4 blades that comes with an iron be good enough to get something done with my tires?
It seems the best place to get one is ebay, unless they sell them at Lordco...

the tires already exist, the truck isn't a daily driver, and $70 on a groover is a whole lot cheaper than anything else. Would much prefer to make these into decently performing tires so I can spend the other $500 tires would cost to get lift brackets and stuff. Also, I can't say I have much interest in spending a bunch of money on 31" mud tires (d28/7.5, so if I go any bigger shits gonna break) when I get a d35 and 8.8 swapped in, then I will get something bigger, and more aggressive.

dude we cut our race car tires all the time and they last night after night cutting a tire if done right will make it better

I got mine at pit-stopusa.com . Pretty cheap toy for making your tires work the way you want. I spent about an hour on each of my boggers and never had the awful sidehill slide that everyone always speaks of.

Fixing to get ahold of the tires I got now.

I've used everything from an actual groover to a sawzall, a router, and a chainsaw. I must say the groover is the best bet. I changed the blade after 2 tires but I was doing a lot of cutting.
