what should i set my timing at for the fm146 swap? ive searched and cant find out. tech library says to change it but doesnt say what it needs to be. 85 b2 durasparked. im running the 12* i was running with the a4ld. anybody know?

I wouldn't worry about it much

how does it run now?...and does it "ping" when pushed warmed up with the average pump gas used where you live?..

It may depend on the diz specs slightly as well if you're worried about it...(centrifugal advance weights/vacuum diaphragm specs) from auto to stick..
I've never opened the diz on one of these to see if they use centrifugal weights maybe not..

If it isn't pinging and runs well and has power when "passing" w/o pinging i wouldn't worry about it.

If you were running better gas..and wanted a little more power you MAY try advancing it a scosh till it pings then back off slightly...as long as it runs smooth...( this is what a knock sensor does of course on a puterized motor in real time))

( this assumes everything else is up to speed) back in the day of dizzy's..it was all about centrifugal advance weights, and diaphragms..and fine tuning..NOW it's EFI, TFI, etc...and actually works better....WHEN it works, till it DON"T work...for one reason or another...

If i remember right, you're running the 2.8L? You're lucky to be able to change your diz to whatever year specs you like..even going back to 1974 specs..and find the year that gives you the exact sets of parts to give you what you want..if you can find the original parts..and then try to make it run with the gas we have today...kinda kewl ..you can also get a new diz from Mallory..and let them figure it our for you...after you pay them...

its durasparked now with the 79 pinto 2.8 disty, running at 12* with the advance unplugged. seems to run good, i might try to drop it down to 8* and see how she does, no pinging but i think im borderline on being too advanced
