Timing Belt replaced..no spark 2.5 Auto

I was fortunate to pick up a 98 ford ranger 3.0 4x4 for $800. figured it was about the same as the cost of a shop to repiar my 98 4-Cyl automatic that just broke the timing belt. Thinking i could tackle this myself again. I've stripped the radiator out for working room and pulled the serpintine belt. got the new timing belt set to where i believe TDC was...cranked it and got nothing. have reset the belt position a few times and just killed the battery repeating this.. Just noticed, I'm not getting spark, Is this from incorrect timing? or did something else crap out while messing with timing belt? any tips on settn timing belt too are accepted. i know this is prob a repeat thread every other weak, but I'll try to keep the pro's of TRS buisy!! Thnks

Crank Sensor controls spark.
Belt may have smacked it around and ruined it.

thnks...dude was right, for anyone else.....the crank position sensor is a magnetic sensor on top the crankshaft pulley... I had been trying to start the truck just to see if timing was correct before i put it back together, voiding the pulley puller, but thats not happening. I slid crank pulley on and got the enginf the bark. SWEET.. bolted the crankshaft pulley back on to hold timing belt in place fro sliding off and it started up...Its sputtering, but i was able to keep it running and moved it a few feet..so I'll have to adjust the timing again, just off a tooth.
