Finished the install yesterday of a Motorcraft slave cyl on my friend's 88 Ranger 2.9 4x4. Started and let idle for about 30 minutes last night, and same this morning. However, after driving about 5 miles there's a ticking from the flywheel/clutch area only when the clutch pedal is pressed in. It is intermittent.
Bled the clutch line until no more air came from the system (last night, before the noise started today). Is the slave cylinder not disengaging all the way and causing the chatter? Do I need to bleed this thing more? I didn't bench bleed the master cyl, and to me the clutch pedal seems light but there's no problem shifting or anything.
Should also say that the truck has been sitting for a while after installing new flywheel, clutch, pilot bearing, and rebuilt slave cyl that began leaking almost immediately. There was no noise with the previous, leaking "new" slave cylinder that was removed and replaced with the Motorcraft part (which included a new throw out bearing).
Thanks in advance. This forum has been a lifesaver with this truck.
