I've searched. Maybe I haven't search enough.

My B2 is done, rust has taken over.

I found a 93 Ranger extended cab 4.0 5spd, 2wd.

I'm swapping my 4wd stuff over. I've always heard the crossmembers are different. I see that now. So, i just need to change the engine crossmember and all is good? Correct?

I don't need to do a SAS yet. I want my truck for the winter. Plus I need to rebuild the D44 and 9 inch that I have.

well...the concept is simple.....executing it is not for guys that are not comfortable with cut off wheels and torches..

if everything is in good shape and works great i would do it in a heartbeat unless i had all of the stuff to do a d30 or some type of sas.

there are several inches of weld that has to be dealt with....depending on what tools you have it can be a total beeeee ot cha to do this....or a few hours after the engines are pulled and the preperations are made. with a plasma or acetylene torch it simple enough....otherwise i drill a big hole/holes in the corner and use a sawzall/body saw or cutoff wheel on a grinder. i use the grinder for the rivots as well...between a small grinder wheel and or cutting the heads off with the cut off wheel and beat them out.

i pull the steering gear and inner rail first....from there its self explanatory....pull all of the buckets too and wire wheel/sandblast all of the exposed areas and treat them before you put it all together. i usally drill everything to half inch grade 8 bolt as well.

i have only done about a dozen or so....some i made brackets on the upright weld section others were just filler plated and welded. depending on who and what tools were around.

The parts B2 is totally exposed. Inner fenders are off and so forth. So no problem from the donor.

The lazy part of me was not wanting to pull the ranger engine. I have a welder, cut off tools, torch etc.

Maybe going full width is the way to go.

well....

i would rip the whole front of the truck right off....making the inner fenders and core support removable.... and clean and paint up stuff.... pulling the engine is cake at that point. just make sure the jackstands are behind the radius arms....then rolling the rails to aid in the k member swap i total cake...

then in the future when you drop a 5.3 or 302 or 351 in there....it will be cake still to work on.

up to you.

No V-8's in the future. Love my 4.0's. I have 3 extra ones laying around.

i hate the sound of a v6.....but the 4.0 is a solid engine.....well the ohv is.

i have one in a b2 and its a great match....i have swapped many of them for others...not like v8's but if big power is not needed they are a good choice because heat is much more manageable off road.

but. fuel consumption for available power is hard to justify depending on how they are used.
