Thinking about converting to live axle setup on 98 ranger.

Well my rugged ridge manual locking hub feel off somewhere. I am thinking about getting explorer hubs with axles to convert it to a live axle. I wonder how much this will affect fuel mileage and parts wear.
Any suggestions?

I think less than 1mpg, On a stock truck I don’t see why not.

I have heard on a v8 swap depending on tcase a wider tcase (like a 4406) can cause some rumbles with the driveshaft turning full time.

You can test with lockouts if you can get them to lock and see what you think though

You might shoot Fastpakr a PM, I don't know if he has his on the road yet or not. He posed a similar question awhile ago.

My truck is totally different and I have yet to drive it on the road with anything but the original t-case.

I just made a set of manual lockers out of the original ones. I don't use four wheel drive much so it does not bother me.

You might lock them in and report back about the vibration.

I have only heard potential rumors, it would be nice to know.
