the front of my truck seems to change height

Without changeing how much weight is in the front of my truck. The height of the front of it seems low for a few weeks and then randomly seems to raise back up. Is it the coils or my shocks. 1994ext cab 3.0 71xxx miles
the front shocks were last replaced Nov 2004 44,812 miles

That is kind of a weird issue...how much is it changing? Like an inch or two?

well that was a tree that fell on the BACK of my truck this summer(maybe has something to do with it)but it changed from low to high about a week ago, and im not the only one who has noticed it(so im not crazy).

but yeah about an inch or two, and i dont think its the gas tank since it both sides that change(even though my truck definatly leans to to driver side when the tank is full)

it wouldnt happen to change height after you back-up and park, would it?

if your toe is off, the suspension will "walk up" when the truck movesd in one direction, then squat down when it moves the other direction.

why dont you measure it a few times with a tape to make sure its not just an optical illusion based on where/how you park

how can i test to see if my suspension or shocks need to be replaced? I know you rock it side to side to test the shocks but how hard and how quickly should it stop moving

bounce the front bumper up and down. it should stop in 1 bounce when you let off.

i dont forsee bad shocks causing your problem...

My '84 Harley does the same thing when I "back" it into a parking space & use the back brake to stop it--the front end raises up about 2" every now & then. I finally figured out the front shocks were binding slightly at a certain height & releasing when I parked it backwards not saying that's his problem--but it did make me

my 03 honda shadow does this to then i release the front brake and it goes to normal

You are aware that, depending upon weight distribution of your truck, a percentage of the weight you place in the back goes on the front wheels.

yes but 15lb bookbag in the bed wont make an inch of difference that i see especially in the front

Mine was doing the same thing all summer actually. I had it aligned and it's stayed the same since. That would be my bet. Shouldnt be too costly, mine was $50.

It is very unusual for the front to raise unless you installed some high pressure nitrogen filled shocks. Then it would raise no more than one inch. Are sure you the front has raised or could the rear have gotten lower. Maybe your rear springs have weakened and dropped the rear making it look like the front has raised. If the rear dropped it would also shift some weight to the rear resulting in the front raising a little.

Yes, bad toe adjustment could cause the suspension to jack up, but your tires should show some bad wear.
