Hello,

I have a gent in my area selling a pair of bucket seats from his 1989 ranger. Now I have an 1989 Bronco II. I'd love to dump the 60/40 crap and go with normal seats. (that way I stand a chance of also using seat covers that look decent..and not trying to cobble it together)

Question---Do the seats just bolt in place? Or am I looking at mod's to make it work? The weather is getting bitin' cold up here...and working outside for any extended time is not going to be an option soon.

Thanks!

There are 4 10mm bolts that hold the seat itself to the seat track. Swap the new seats on to the old tracks and you are good to go.

Cool! They are not an exact match for my old 'gray' seats...then again my old gray seats are showing almost as much foam padding LOL.

Thanks!

I actualluy just did this tonight in my B2, pulled seats from a 2000 ranger and switched the bases, too easy.
On the seat bottom foam.... the springs like to tear thru the foam so what I did was take a piece of old vinal seat material and stick it between the foam and the springs, a few zip ties to hold it and it will keep the foam from tearing thru, not a total fix if the foam is completely worn out but it helps firm it up some. 2nd B2 i've done this too, works good. or check the dealer and see if you can still order the foam for the seat bottom. they're usualy worn out pretty good on the drivers side.

I can get the replacement foam easy enough. Problem is just like you've stated buck. The springs are starting to tear through--and the side steel bar? Let's just say you can see the entire bar now. It's quite a sight.

Thanks for the feedback all. I've emailed the gent and will pick up the seats right after payday.

Job's all done. Very odd, even the owner didn't see the issue. Both seats, visually the same but a piece of plastic--

Right Hand Side.

I did a double take...and then we installed them anyway. The only issue is that the seat tilt release is on the wrong side for the drivers seat.

They bolted together nicely. And I already slammed my noggin getting into it. These seats are about 3" taller when you factor in the foam is in great shape. My old drivers seat? What foam? It was like sitting on the floor.

Thanks for all the help! And this answers the question if the seats are interchangeable. LOL. Hey...it looks decent, and I couldn't care less about the seat release/tilt....as no one ever uses the back seats.
