sub box help

just make one, or buy one and use a router to cut a counter sunk lip in the top so you can set a piece of plex glass into it and secure it with screws. kind of like this one but on the top of the box instead of on the face.

to achive this and have it look pretty and work right. with out turning it in to a honorably designed 4th order bass reflex box. there are two ways to it.

on you need a thick chunk of plexi id go with one inch or bigger if you can find it. you can polish the edges if you would like and have it be seen or cut out a nice rounded edge square and router in a seat for the plexi or trim it out with mdf then cover it with a frame. that matches the hole you cut out.

doing it the sandwhich way will let you cover the saw marks in the plexi. and lets you seal the edges for the box.

if its not thick enuff it will wobble. sound like shit and the stress could crack around the screw holes.

remember to predrill holes in the plastic just ever too small. your looking for a clamping effect not a screwing effect. and use pan head screws.

what 4x4 said. the piece of plexiglass on my q-logic box is about 3/4" thick and the wood in the area around the glass is twice as thick (1-1/2") as the rest of the box (3/4"). being that mine is a band pass box it doesnt need the same level of sealing as yours will need.

i tried making the box today.............EPIC FAIL so im gettin a regular box from a friend tmrw... how should i position it? ive got a 2dr ext cab without seats in the back
