Strange fuel connection *Solved*

I am trying to remove the fuel line from the regulator on a 90 B2. it is different from any other I have seen. Any idea on how to remove this?

Finger springlock....haaaaate them.


I think it's one of these....I have 3 styles..unless that is the twist one.....

It looks like the 4.0 style...the other end of the hose....does it have a hex nut jic style or a spring clip to the frame side?...

The other hose (inlet to fuel rail) has a hex nut type of connection. I have the tools in your first post and they will not go in. the collar at the end of the hose is tight against the regulator outlet. I do not know what the other end of the hose looks like, I'll look tomorrow.

This is what the end of the regulator looks like that the fuel line slips on to. The raised ring is in front of the connector.

I have a set of the Lisle spring lock tools... they might work in this case.

I've never seen a Ford fuel line connector that this didn’t work on? :dunno:

The other end of the hose is a spring clip connection near the power steering.
 
They are like a clam shell... open them up and clamp them on. Then they work just like a regular spring lock tool. I think they may be a bit shallower...
 
Check out this thread if you're interested in what the tools actually do to separate the fuel lines. The documents in the thread don't go into full detail, but the tool(s) expand the spring so the female fitting can be pulled off of the male fitting. As mentioned in the thread, some lubrication with twisting helps when trying to pull them apart.

 
I found my answer on another forum. It just needed something pushed into a little slot on the front of the connector and it slid right off. I just bent a 90 on a cotter pin, pushed it into the slot and success.
As you can see there are 2 slots. The high price tool has 2 tabs to push the white ring inside, but the cotter key pushing down one side was successful and cheap.

Sorry....I should have stated o ring pick for #2 4.0 style. I don't remember seeing those collet style on a 2.9.

At least it came off. They usually get modified up here
