HI.
After fixing the cam timming problem I still have a real bad knock when the motor is cold.. Could I have fractured the porclin on the spark plugs causing this to knock {the knock is up top}. 2.3 ford new rebuild. I drove it for about 100 miles with the cam timming off by close to 10* it is now fixed and runs good when warmed up.
thanks
Tim

When the engine is cold pull the valve cover off, and check for a loose cam follower(s) usually caused by a lifter that bleeds down when it sits, you will need to rotate the engine over to check them all. I doubt it's a spark plug but check them anyways.

OK.. believe it or not the knock was the spark plugs??? apparently (I'm guessing) they got fraactured inside from the knock I had because the cam timing was off. cause I changed the plugs and the knock has quit..
boy I am glad it not piston knock..
take care
tim
