Starter soliniod pops clicks

starter solenoid poping

hey i did a 4.0 swap on my 90 ranger from a 90 ranger auto kept my 5spd wired it up but now the starter solenoid makes a pop noise its only does this if i run a jumper wire from clutch saftey switch to starter solenoid if i dont run this wire the truck does nothing

Meaning it will not start with out the jumper or what ?

What would cause it to do that its a 4.0 engine swap

possibly a bad solenoid,low battery voltage or starter is locked up

Wire to starter loose, broken or corroded ?
Starter is loose on the trans ( grounds through it ) ?
Low battery, bad starter relay ?
Bad starter or solenoid ?
Any of the above.
