Swap is going into a 88 Ranger 2.9/R1 2wd. I pulled an 5.0 from a 97 Exploder yesterday. Getting an R2 from a 97 4.2 next month. My questions are mating of the two...I've searched an there has been some discussion but nothing I can really use so I have a few questions:
1. Do I order an engine plate for a std for the starter to mount properly?
2. Which flywheel and clutch. Do I just get a 164tooth and call it good or do I get a 157, I know about the 50oz imbalance... do I use a clutch setup for a 96 f-150 5.0 or do i use one from a auto.
3. Some posts say that throw out is the same for both the R1, which I have right now, and the R2 that I'm getting, I checked Advance and they actually list different throw outs, which one do I use.
I will post pics as I go.
