are you losing power to the pump check the voltage to the pump when you jump it and when it dies. definately sounds like fuel pressure is low to me not sure but if it dies when the pressure drops is a big clue

Update:
checked fuel pressure. Jumpered the relay so the pump ran continuously - 26-28 psi. Started it, ran it till it died and noticed that the pressure dropped to 0! Pump was still running though.
Bad pump or maybe it's sucking something up into the opening. But I think the pump is bad.
What pressure should I be getting at the rail?

According to our tech library it calls for 30-40 PSI.

Ok, found the problem. The fuel pump was running but would loose voltage and still run, but slowly. So I took the bed off again, and looked at the connection. The connector was a little loose, so I squeezed the sockets a little to tighted it up. I also took the pump out and checked the pump. The spade connectors were a little loose, so I squeezed those too and then plugged them back on. Much tighter and no loss of voltage! Pump will now run all day long!
I think it was a combination of the two actually. When the truck was running I could wiggle the pump/sender connection and the pump would slow down, causing the truck to die. So I think maybe heat and vibration acting on the connections caused the pump to loose good, strong connections. The time issue? Well, I don't know!
