Hi guys n gals. Did a search for my question/answer with no concrete results. I was looking for the correct way to recalibrate the speedo on a 2007 4x4, 4.0 supercab with manual shift. I sort of remember a thread where the speedo was corrected by flashing the computer for a different tire size. Is this true or is my memory playing tricks on me again? If this is true I would imagine only a dealership could do this. Thanks in advance for all replies. Will check back in a couple days.

Yes, the Ford scan tool can be used to recalibrate the speedometer, but it has limitations. The IDS will only allow a factory available gear ratio or tire size to be put in. So if you upped it to 35 inch tires or went to something like 4.56 gears that were not available from the factory, they won't be able to get it perfect.

A tuner with speedo recalibration is a better option if you went with something that wouldn't have been a factory option.

Actually I want to go to smaller tires. The OEM tires are 255/70R/16. I want to go to 235/70/16. They are a lot easier to find in this neck of the woods.
