I have a 2010 Sport 4X4 with the 4.0 V6 Automatic. The truck has 133,000km on it now and I am thinking of replacing spark plugs and wires.

What brand/type does everyone recommend ?

How difficult is it to replace them ? Any tips and tricks ?

Motorcraft plugs and wires.

Not hard. Just do one plug/wire at a time so you dont get the firing order messed up.

Only issue might be access but ive never done them on a SOHC 4.0. So cant speak either way.

The OHC motors aren't the easiest to do plus on, but not terrible either.

I think I ended up taking off the passanger side tire to go up through the fender for the ones in the back.

Motorcraft or Autolite brand plugs.

I like the MSD 8.5mm super conductors, but they don't sell a pre done kit for these trucks so you'd have to get a do it yourself kit to get the lengths correct.

They pretty much covered the plugs and wires. Tip of the day, you will need to go through the passenger wheel well for the back two plugs on that side. The evaporator box is in the way going from up top and access is poor from underneath.

I second @rusty ol ranger on this one- for the marginal increase in price vs generic, Motorcraft is the way to go.

MotorCraft, offbrand plugs are commonly troublesome; be sure to properly gap.
Consider renewing the OxygenSensors; they also wear out & need replacing every 100kMiles\12yrs;
as they age they bias the fuel/air mix to the rich end of the range = lower mileage + hotter CatCons.

On my 93 Ranger 4.0l, I used motorcraft wires, but used NGK titanium spark plugs
No issues.
