Hello Forum,

I have a 1998 Ranger with the 4.0. I have just had a used engine to replace my blown factory one. My problem is that the engine before would faul the plug in the #4 cylinder every 6 weeks or so. Now the new engine is doing the same thing...again fauling the #4 plug?
What should I do? IS this going to be a coil pack problem?

Help a girl out!

Janet

Is the plug fuel fouled or oil fouled? Fuel fouled would indicate: Poor voltage to the plug which would be the coil pack, plug wire or bad injector. Oil fouled: Piston ring or bad intake manifold gasket.

Could be!

You should have asked questions here before paying for another engine.. Nitrofan answered well enough.
