South American Ranger Diesel Engines

Hi. My name is Bruce and I'm a first time poster and new to this forum. Soon I will be relocating to Costa Rica, and I will purchase a used Ranger 4X4 Diesel with 5 speed manual transmission. The vehicles I'm considering are 2007 - 2010 and the available engines are 2500 CC, 2800 CC or 3000CC. What are the pros and cons for each of these engines. Is there a hands down winner between these three? I would really appreciate if the brain trust on this forum could lead me in the right direction. I defer to you folks, but I'm told that all of the Ford Rangers sold in Costa Rica are manufactured by Ford Argentina.

I recently had an extended road trip in a Costa Rican Ranger. It had old man emu package and 2' lift suspension. I was really impressed with the ride and performance and look forward to being a Ford Ranger owner soon.

howdy and welcome to TRS~!

Not familiar with the Diesel engine lineup myself but we do have a Diesel engine section somewhere on here. Or maybe a few of regulars that are diesel~wise can chip in for this one.

Costa Rica? I know we have at least one member from down that way...RSH is Ranger Sport Honduras...was on here not too long ago too...

Not that I assume you two know each other...like Canadians...we don't all know each other up here but some people will ask me if I know somebody's cousin in Toronto...

Anyway...check the Diesel forum and post up there if you haven't done so already...

Hey Bruce,
I read your question re: So.American built Rangers. I am in Belize, and own a 2006 Ranger with the 2.8 (Land-Rover built) engine. I've been trying to track down an owners' manual for this. I'm sure it will be in Spanish, but can get it translated. Have you had any luck with your query?
