My backyard fix didn't last on the punctured 92 plastic tank so I'm trying to find a new one since most local wrecking yards pop a hole in theirs. I'm trying to find one from a 92 regular cab and not having any luck on ebay or the likes.

plastic weld it
i think tank is ptfe plastic if i remember

I tried mending it with a soldering iron then using marine jbweld.

I had a guy offer me a 92 ext cab tank for $30, my truck is a regular cab. Are they close to the same only the extended cab tanks extend towards the cab more? I've been under an extended cab truck and tried pulling a fuel tank but couldn't due to the front cross member. I can't remember how long that sucker was tho. Seems like it might be worth trying to fit for $30

I put an 88 regular cab fuel tank into an 88 extended cab and it fit fine...same straps and everything...maybe things changed in 89 or 90 but I would think not that much...they use very similar straps and all that...except the 96 has that extra strap around the back end of the tank...

Idk, but my '92 long bed has the seldom order optional (standard is ~16 gallon) larger capacity gas tank that just so happens to have the same ~19.6 gallon volume as the extended cab. I do NOT know if its the exact same tank as an extended cab but it was only optional on long beds. When I compared it to my other long beds 16 gallon tank I noticed it went further back towards the axle. Hopefully you can see the relation between where the parking brake cable goes through the frame vs the end of the gas tank in these pictures.
