attempting to source new retaining rings/clips for the D35-SLA differential. There is 1 on the driver side inner CV, 2 on the intermediate shaft.
Ford # F57Z-3Z498-BB (also AA) is long obsolete and # 82709 from Jeffs Bronco Graveyard is for the outer shafts pre-live hubs, it's too wide.
no luck on Dana parts sites or various parts vendors.

FYI: these are capable of flying and have no sense of direction :idiot:

I believe they are also on the half shafts to retain CVs.

You're suppose to clip their wings... everyone knows that.

I do now, and they "walk off" much better than they fly off.

I'll get some and report back.
here is one from an intermediate shaft.
I pulled a couple from another shaft, they all are oval shaped. .093" / 3/32" wide.
I think they are supposed to be oval when new, not stretched during installation.
also the wire is sort of rectangular, the Trail Gear are round on both counts.

Here’s the problem nationwide. The washers arent available >.< i didnt ask however about the clip.

having nothing better to do today, I compared the 2 different rings.
Trail Gear wire is round, Ford is sort of rectangular. about .018" difference in width.
Trail gear makes a more complete & round shape.
slapped them both on an intermediate shaft and pushed a front diff on.
the (newer) TG ring fit tighter and being narrower resulted in about .012" more play.
it also locked the diff on better, so total thumbs up on the Trail Gear ring.

I've looked at the listings for Jeep Liberty 02-07 and they may have the same ring. # 5066064AA from MOPAR.
anybody admit to having Jeep friends to check this out?

Ford ring on top.

the Jeep rings came in today.
05066064AA Mopar is exactly the same as a Ranger ring.
was less than $5
Hey there just wanted to confirm those rings were good alternatives I’m on the same hunt right now
