I have a 92 ford ranger 2.3
It was stuck in the snow the other day and the motor went to some high rpms while spinning to get it out. it started sputtering and eventually now will not start. It did not overheat or blow any smoke.

IT is however getting spark and fuel pressure. I checked the pressure at the shrader valve and it seems to get good pressure. IT will start for a very short second if i spray ether into the carb. Could my injectors be the problem ? would the motor get compression if the timing belt was chewed ? Right before it died it started sputtering and running real rough. it would only idle if gas pedal was to the floor. and then eventually it would not run at all.

This is my only vehicle and i need it running as soon as possible. thanks.

I also unplugged the mass air flow sensor. Just so you guys know. !

Your truck does not have a carb hahahaha thats a Throttlebody. plus if it was carbed than it wouldn't have FUEL INJECTORS now would it lol

Was it just sputtering? Or did it make any funny noise while it was sputtering?

and if you think the timing belt got chewed up, than why don't you lift the hood and see haha

Make up your mind. You can't have both.

how do you know its got good fuel pressure? have you had a gauge on it or did you just press the little button and say "yup, looks like its got fuel"

if the timing belt went, it wouldnt even spit and sputter. given the fact that it does something when you put ether in the intake, id guess its the fuel pump or relay. get a gauge on it.

what a bunch of ******s. sorry i got some shit mixed up when i was typing this out. but you guys act like little black bastards.

Im tellin my mamma daddy on you.:thefinger:

Might also be your fuel filter. My truck was doing similar when I bought it and it was the fuel filter. Mine ran though just had now power.

Check the positions on the timing belt, could have skipped a tooth.
Most people dont know to re-tension and check tension ,they can get sloppy, get where they skip easy or just break . Believe factory sez to replace every 2 yrs, now who does that ?

Seriously? And you're asking for help with your truck? You rock man:headbang:

Check or re-ground your DIS ignition control module, its bolted to the intake manifold, search for it in the forums. More than likely its the ICM or a bad coil pack, if you bump start it it will run like s***, but it will run. Thats how you'll know its the ICM. $150 will tell you for sure.
