SOHC Throttle Body Shield

I posted this in parts wanted; but, decided what the heck, I'll give it a try here just in case.

I need the throttle body shield for a SOHC 4 liter . It is that plastic cover on top of the throttle body that says 4.0L. Took it in for maintenance some time ago and it didn't come back with it. Of course by the time I noticed it missing, the shop said it wasn't there to start with. So.....

Nothing at your local junk yard? That's the best place to look. Or order one online

I would check ebay, or ford parts. I don't think it's a 100% necessary component.

Nothing on ebay, nothing in the local yards. Ford wants 60 bucks for the stupid thing. Couldn't have cost more than 2 bucks to make!!

Not even that, it was probably made for pennies in a factory overseas.

Thanks for all the interest. Problem solved.

I did some research on the "shield" and found it is a safety part. It keeps the throttle and cruise control cables shielded from possible interference. There was even a recall on the part some years ago.

Anyway, went back to the dealer and pointed this out and that the only maintenance performed on that truck was done by them. They caved and are ordering the part.

Well that's good to know. I always thought it was just an appearance cover.
