Should I replace this

The air sensor on the intake is held on w/ tie wraps. It's the one about 2/3 way along the intake tube as you're looking at the engine. The little clip that holds it is broken on the sensor body that's why they did that.
It looks like it has wires that go into a harness, so absent the manual on hand I'm thinking the only way to replace this is cut the wires, splice in new sensor, which should come with pigtails, solder, shrink wrap, and put back in the wire loom. I can't think of any other way to do it without taking apart a lot of wires all wrapped (the harness).

Unless the wires unhook from the sensor but it doesn't look like it.

I believe sensor is working fine, no issues with engine. Just going over the truck and looking for things, this is minor but I'd want to set it right just as part of going over it. It is better if you can completely disconnect the intake tube completely and get it totally out of the picture.

Anyway, if anyone knows the part# that would be great otherwise I'll wait on the manuals they should tell.
Or any suggestions past what I've said as to the install.

Either mass air flow or intake temp. It should unplug

yeah that's the thing I'm sure it will unplug if I take off the tie wraps then I would have to re-do them because the part of the clip is broke off it
I can flip the intake up out of the way to work. I'm just saying it's better if the sensor (body) is fixed... it doesn't really fix anything to change it other then make it right so I can do what you are saying, unplug it
and it will sit on list of stuff to do until it drives me nuts unfortunately
there's one sensor on the air cleaner canister. it's not that one.
there's another sensor up near the intake but on the engine (I believe) it's not that one
it's the third one in the middle

That’s your intake air temperature sensor… and a lot of zip ties.

yeah exactly. at least they did it so it's securely in there. but you see the issue.
I'll put it in "the next order" and solder/wrap/loom it in
Will see if manual (when I get it) says anything about replacing it connector aside they must go bad eventually

Youd have to remove all 27 zip ties to see if it’s the connector or the sensor that’s messed up. It could be either.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure it's the plastic body of it, looks like there was a tab to lock over the intake and it's broken off that's why they put the zips.
I'll dissect it but probably will wait until I have the replacement part. If the connector and sensor are 2 different things then I'd probably just replace the connector unless the sensor is cheap. I have no indication of anything being wrong with the actual operation of the thing.

My plastic tabs on about every connector are broke never had an issue certainly not enough to warrent a bag of zip ties

Well as long as the sensor works and it doesn't leak or fall out then it's fine

Maybe the previous owner needed to use all those extra zip ties because they’re Harbor Freight zip ties.

Those aren't zip ties.
They're ball lock straps; the kind used for wrapping Z-Tek (asbestos) along exhaust systems.

They look like zip ties to me too which is what I've always used to hold exhaust wrap in place.. albeit stainless ties.

I ordered 4,000 zip ties yesterday for my stock order at work… that should last us a few months unless someone starts using 42 on each sensor.
