I cut out a 2 foot section of frame from my ranger. cut off and notched the front of the bed to fit around my cab to the door edge and riveted it on helped with some sealer. on the bottom of the bed against the cab I cut a length of angle steel and welded it in for support. The front leaf spring brackets fit right where my body mounts used to be. My bed is now 5 feet from cab to tail gate and the truck is about 6 inches longer than a Bronco2. With the 302 attached to a manuel and posi 8.8 in the rear, rain feels like ice.

trying to post pictures but it wont let me post anything big enough to actually see whats going on

Looking forward to seeing it! Use photobucket to upload photos. They automatically re-size your pics to a manageable size.

Poor Manuel. Why in the world would you go kidnap some poor Mexican and strap a small block V8 to him? That is just cruel and rude.

Sonofabitch! I tried to rep you for this and I can't.

That was really good. :icon_rofl:

what kind of idiot would take a perfectly good rbv and cut a couple of feet out of the middle of it?

I would love to shorten my bed a bit!!!! I have been thinking about it for about three years, now!!! Maybe...next summer...just cut in front of the taillight area about 6 inches removed and then weld it all back and then I would have to redo the bumper mounting brackets of course and match the paint...but I think it will look sharp. I have seen several Rangers and Tocomas with the bed shortened and it they looked great.

i want to go the other route, get a longbed ,chop frames behind the cab, then weld the longbed frame to my supercab chassis to make a longbed supercab ranger! sure id have to get a longer driveshaft and lengthen some brake lines, exhaust, wiring, but its certianally a doable project. be even better to get a longbed the same color so i didnt have do do any painting.
