I was wondering if anyone has ever done a SHO swap into a ranger? A friend of mine is really big into SHOs(has owned 5 or 6, current car was the quarter mile record holder for the last year, etc..) And I was thinking of doing this swap. My main question being, are there any transmissions, preferably manual, that will bolt up to this. I'll be going in my 1994 4x4. Thanks in advance for any advice.

m5od from behind a 3.0

Should be the same pattern.

'Tis the same pattern. Actually, if you search the internet (and probably the forums) you'll find that Ford actually put a SHO 3.0L into a ranger but failed to mass produce it. I think a bit of creativity, some cash, and the right resources this wouldn't be all that bad of a swap. My only suggestion is that the SHO engine be ran in a single cab short bed Ranger, preferably lowered an inch or two, because these engines are high revvers and would struggle with a heavy vehicle during daily cruising.

Also, the engines characteristics and powerband mean changing the factory rear end gear ratio to truly maximize its potential. I'm talking about 4.56:1 on a street tire because this engine will live quite happily if its running 3,000rpm highway.

yeah ...... lets see the ecoboost swap...........

to get the 3.0L or the 3.2L you need to turn the intake 180*

i am currently in the process of doing this convertion :icon_thumby:

At the Ford Nationals in Carlisle I have seen a few Merkur XR4Ti's with an SHO V6 swapped in. So putting it in a rear-drive vehicle can be done.
