Not sure if more shims are going to help...if the noise is less then run with it for a bit before adding more shims...
My starter is loud...just so you know...it's not screeching, but it is actually very loud...for a person that is just about deaf that is saying something...I could probably hear it without my hearing aides on most days...but I prefer to have them in and on when I start the engine just in case something starts clanging...that's not good...
