Hey all. I'm forced to take my Ranger off the road due to frame rust through, rotted brake lines and a leaking slave/master. Just not worth the $ to fix.

Its a 1998 4 cyl/ 5 speed short box 2wd

Before I try to get some scrap money out of it, what parts should I pull off it to sell?
Doors
Interior
Catalytic converter
Front and rear bumpers
Intake
Throttle body
Intake manifold
Wheels and tires
Bed
Dash
Alternator

Although the engine and tranny are in great condition, im just too lazy to pull them out and don't have the tools

u can pull the engine real easy, but since u dont wanna go ahead and take the valve covers off, gas tank since its probably plastic, headlight assembly, grill thats all i can think of right now.

engine aint too hard to pull, especially if you take the fenders and sawzall the core support off, id give 300 for the bare engine block alone, 500 for both engine and trans. or have the person who wants it pull it. tbi, intake and throttle bodies aren't worth all that much cause they dont realy break.. if your fenders and bed are rust free, there worth saving.

have the person who wants it pull it.

I would throw it up online under that, parts or whole.

That is how I got my 8.8, had to pull it in the 'hood of Omaha in a cold garage with only a cord going to the house for a light. :icon_thumby:

Yah that was the condition of the Rat when I paid 600$ for it and drove it home. I should have just driven it to the JY and taken the loss, it would have been cheaper . That was was my attitude when I was underneath tearing it apart last winter. It was hard to stop fixing things it needs I managed to get it to its current level of Rattiness for ~1200$ and 3 1/2 months of spare time. After driving it for 6 months , it was worth it or nearly so. It is still a rusty old heap of a Ford :D

Yah... Andy and I know at least three members on here that are ready to hunt you down if you don't throw up a pic. Non of us believe it could be THAT ratty. LOL

Maybe some day. I dont have a camera or the smarts to get them posted.

If you are hauling the truck to a scrapyard; take anything off that is not steel.

Electric motors: starter fan motor alternator (I know, but scrapyards buy them as motors).

Aluminum: condensor, evaporator, manifold? not sure if its al or plastic on a 98. I would strip the transmission down to its case also.

Most of the stuff I listed will bring twice or more what scrap iron gets you.
