1979 F250 powered by a Perkins diesel from an old combine...

@rusty ol ranger

We actually have a good 354 Perkins sitting on the floor at work looking for a new hone after its combine caught on fire. It is non turbo but IMO they are thee best sounding diesel ever. They sip fuel too.

My dad’s Gehl skid steer has an inline 4 cyl Perkins non turbo and that motor doesn’t know the meaning of quit, it’s hard just to get it to sound like it has much of a load on when you’re digging with it. If all of the Perkins diesel motors are like that, I’m impressed

That is pretty sweet.

Still dont like seeing the original powerplants get removed...but i do admire the originality

They are kind of hard to find anybody that knows anything about them and they won't take more fuel as well as say an IH but they will hold their own. The 354 was mainly used in Massey-Fergusons and a few Olivers so they don't have a huge following. My grandfather had one to power his sawmill and we had the one guy that had the engine we have (Massey-Furguson 510 combine), I have always loved the sound. Really nice and mellow with just enough knock to balance it out. My uncle used to have an 1135 tractor which had a factory turbo, my dad (die hard JD/Case guy) gave it high marks for power for the fuel it burned.

THIS is the series for Rusty. In the third episode I think we also discover where @bobbywalter went to, he moved on to S-10's.
