Same old torque converter seal blowing out problem, found a Ford TSB that mention using the 4R44E bell housing due to improved bushing lube and drain back for the converter bushing, the TSB is rather vague, Question for the forum is, has any one tried using the 4R44E bell housing on the A4LD? and did it help prevent the seal blow out problem?

The TSB # ATRATB335

Is the flywheel/flex plate in good condition and does the center bushing fit tight with the torque converter on the crankshaft. There is a brass bushing that gets pressed into the bell housing to line up the torque converter to the oil pump you may want to change both the torque converter and press in a new bushing in the bell housing. Bushing number 56034B. http://www.ebay.com/itm/56034B-Bush...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cad2e5af1&vxp=mtr sounds like your converter is flopping around.

Another thing to be sure of is the cooling line is free flowing. The pressure build up in the cooling system will cause the seal to leak. What caused me a lot of problems was one of those in line filters in the cooling line.I wound up running two in parallel to keep the seal from leaking.

So the seal is actually blowing out of the front of the bell housing? If so did you take a punch/chisel and stake the seal after you seating it in the housing? Stake means to create a divot in the aluminum that sorta bends over onto the metal part of the seal. I would do it at 3 spaced out points around the seal, but not too hard, just enough to create a divot, remember its aluminum it bends easy.
