so it needs a new exhaust and i am going to be welding one on here maybe this weekend...so i really need to know if anyone has annexed the cat on one of these 2.8's yet? I plan on putting on a flowmaster 40 series single in dual out unless someone has heard it and it sucks or knows a better sounding muffler for it.

Leave the cat on and go for a flow 40. I think it was hahns2b had a flow on his 2.9 without a cat and had friends act like it made their ears bleed cuz it was so loud. I could be wrong though

hm i do like loud though, but it is an 83 2wd pickup not a 4x4...im running the exhaust myself so i guess i will have to leave a spot for it then or get one of random technologies

It will be very loud without a cat, louder than you think, although IMHO a cat really isn't needed on a carbed engine.
Here's my 2.9 with a 40 series and no cat, fast forward to the 4 minute mark, when the camera gets held outside the window you get a good idea how loud it really is.

thanks alot guys...does anyone have a clip of their truck with cts and 40's? And i already out the si/do so im gonna have to use it haha

damn its still pretty loud...i just dont want to be the dork in the old ass ranger 2wd with loud pipes and factory steel wheels haha. I guess i just hate to polish a turd...

change of plans anyone know where i can get a stock ranger exhaust??? Bolt on if available...i want it to be quite enough to take coon hunting and not draw much attention...and better yet can i get pipes from advance auto that are bent right so i can weld them???
