I am going to be replacing my valve cover and oil pan gaskets, which is best? Cork or Rubber???

Thanks Guys!
Chaz.

Rubber is better than cork.... and even better than rubber is Fel Pro's Permadry gaskets.

Do you use sealer? someone said you dont use sealer on the rubber ones.
also you have a PN#

You want the best? Get a tube of Permatex Ultra black gasket MAKER (not sealer) and just put it right on the cover and bolt it down.

Those Gaskets are Like the Factory ones Molded Rubber , Anybody know the Part Numbers for the 4.0 ? .

For the 4.0 = FEL-PRO Part # VS50368T

I don't ever use sealer on valve cover gaskets. The Permadry/Permadry Plus gaskets are usually reusable. I reused the valve cover gaskets on my Explorer when I did the intake gasket.

For the 2.9 = FEL-PRO Part # VS50312T

I always had the best luck wht the Fel Pro gaskets

That's pretty much all I use on anything anymore. I love their products (especially header gaskets).

Thanks for the Part number , From doing 2 trans swaps in under a Year my Oil pan gasket is starting to leak , Might as well get the most Recommended Parts Avil !

I use sealer on most gaskets that are exposed to oil or water...just a thin layer on one side. I also clean the surfaces with brake cleaner first. It helps hold the gasket in place.
